Terminology that may be new to some will be tossed around at the next TechWomen Power Breakfast, which is Wednesday, November 8 from 7:30 to 9 am at the Manchester Country Club, 180 South River Road in Bedford. The networking and educational event, hosted by the New Hampshire High Tech Council(Council), will feature Scrum Master Betty Ellis Wood at Liberty Mutual Insurance. The focus of the November breakfast will be on Agile Scrum – a way to manage a software development project – and what its impact is on companies and individuals today.
Wood joined Liberty Mutual Insurance in early 2017. A seasoned IT professional, her career began in the late 1970s at Digital Equipment Corporation. Wood has seen the growth of the IT industry through changes in software development, user experiences and business expectations. She was introduced to Agile Scrum development in 2010, when she immediately saw the power in the methodology to align businesses, users and development teams to produce quality software quickly and efficiently. Wood has led many organizations and teams through the transition to Agile Scrum, and currently serves as Scrum Master for a team of eight developers located across six different time zones.
The TechWomen|TechGirls breakfast series is sponsored by TD Bank, Measured Progress and Newforma, and the featured sponsor for the November breakfast is Cook, Little, Rosenblatt & Manson. Tickets for the Power Breakfast are $10 for members of the Council and $20 for not-yet-members, and include breakfast. Get tickets online or call 603.935.8951.
