Name: The Future of Nature Film Series: The Million Dollar Duck
Date: September 26, 2018
Time: 5:00 PM - 8:30 PM EDT
Event Description:
September 26th join The Nature Conservancy and Red River Theatres as we continue this year's Future of Nature Film Series with THE MILLION DOLLAR DUCK, a documentary that focuses on the strange and wonderful world of the Federal Duck Stamp Contest, the only juried art competition run by the U.S. government. This film explores the eccentric nature of the contestants who enter each year for a chance at wildlife art stardom, while also reflecting upon the history and challenges facing the continued existence of this successful conservation program. We'll follow the film with a talk with local experts about how the themes in THE MILLION DOLLAR DUCK touch down in the Granite State. Discussion panel for THE MILLION DOLLAR DUCK will include: Nancy Howe, Artist and Winner, 1990 Duck Stamp Competition. John Kanter, Senior Wildlife Biologist, National Wildlife Federation; former Nongame & Endangered Wildlife Program Coordinator for New Hampshire Fish & Game. Annelee Motta, Duck Stamp Program Coordinator for the Northeast and New Hampshire Junior Duck Stamp Program Coordinator, US Fish & Wildlife Service.
