Instructor

Girls at Work, Inc.
Job Description

Girls at Work, Inc. is expanding and we are looking to add instructors to our team! Our woodworking programs empower girls through building. However,  you need not be a woodworker to apply. If you love empowering girls, raising the bar of low expectations from society, challenging students to critically think outside of the box, and have the desire to believe in them wholeheartedly, reach out to us.  We’d love to meet you!

We pride ourselves in having built a powerful environment that encourages girls to believe in themselves, even on some of their most difficult days. We have also adopted a socratic approach to building that enables us to train interested individuals - even those who are not woodworkers - on how to teach in our workshops. Our goal is to teach the girls to use power tools safely while encouraging them to think critically about how each project is built. The experience of building with power tools elevates self-confidence and self-esteem which leads to a new narrative for our girls, one of strength and courage. We believe it’s an awesome experience for both girls and instructors.

Our builders need strong, positive role models in their lives and we facilitate that within our team. The instructor position is currently part-time. Perfect for anyone looking for an opportunity to influence and mentor this next generation of girls to believe in themselves in a profound and meaningful way.
