Children's Scholarship Fund New Hampshire
- Non-Profit Organization
Granite State businesses have an exciting role to play in improving educational opportunities for our state’s children in 2016. The Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF), a 501(c)(3) national scholarship organization begun in 1998, recently announced it has hired Kate Baker to head its New Hampshire operations, and Kathy Lauer Rago to serve as Program Manager, effective January 1st. Upon receiving all necessary state approvals, CSF will administer the Education Tax Credit scholarships formerly managed by NEO.
''Investing in education'' has become a buzz-phrase that often doesn't include the key decision maker: Parents. Sadly, too many parents lack the financial resources to exercise their freedom to choose the best education options for their children. This is where the Education Tax Credit (ETC) program makes the difference between ''getting by'' and doing well.
Through the ETC, businesses voluntarily direct some of their profits to non-profit scholarship organizations that provide money to help educate students from families earning up to 300 percent of the poverty level. These scholarships improve student achievement and reduce inequalities inherent in our Zip Code-based public system. With this contribution a business can be eligible for an 85% tax credit against some NH state taxes. This investment in education puts businesses in the role of actively providing opportunities for students to learn more, do more, and become more.
