A new series to help educate and inform executives and business owners who may be looking to buy, sell or merge a business in the future will launch this February. The three-part breakfast series is being run and hosted by Devine Millimet in their Manchester location and is the latest branded forum of the NH High Tech Council (Council). The events are free to Council members and friends, but registration is required due to space considerations.

The series will be run by Angela Martin, a shareholder at Devine MIllimet who is vice chair of the Mergers & Acquisition Team and has expertise in issues related to business ownership and succession and exit planning. She will be joined by her colleagues, Steve Cohen, a senior shareholder and Chair of the Mergers & Acquisitions Team and Harper Marshall, a shareholder who oversees the firm’s ESOP practice. The three attorneys are frequent speakers and published authors in this subject matter. Each of the three sessions can serve as a stand-alone session but also build off each another.

“Given the fact that New Hampshire’s business and tech landscape is mostly comprised of small companies, there is always a lot of activity related to mergers and acquisitions. These transactions can be complex, so we will address the phases of a transaction during the series to help prepare people who may be going down this road in the next several years,” Martin said.

The topics and schedule are as follows:

  • Thursday, February 9 – Top 10 Things You Need to Know Before You Sell Your Company – learn how to position your company for a future sale
  • Thursday, March 9 – The Sale: Capturing Your Full Enterprise Value – learn the intricacies involved in a sale process and how to maximize the amount of cash you put in your pocket
  • Thursday, April 6 – Closing the Deal – how to cross the finish line and be fully prepared for what’s next

“We’re very excited to partner with member company Devine Millimet on this series. Anyone considering a merger, sale or purchase of a business will benefit from this and from the knowledge and experience Angela and her team offers,” said Matt Cookson, executive director of the Council.

Registration and the breakfast will be from 7:30 – 8 am and the discussion will run from 8 – 9:30 am with plenty of time for questions and audience participation.

They will be held at the Devine Millimet Manchester office at 111 Amherst Street.
