SUMMARY:2009 Annual Dinner and Citizen of the Year Award
DESCRIPTION:SHADES OF GREENAll Americans are being called upon to participate in the movement toward greater sustainability. Yet\, as our annual dinner theme implies\, there are many shades of green from which to choose. Our levels of commitment may vary\, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to escape our need to preserve a healthy planet and conserve irreplaceable resources. In order to promote the vitality of our business community and secure Manchester's place in the evolving new economy\, we must advance a community-wide assessment of how we measure up to our "green" competition. What are we doing to develop sustainable businesses and attract the talented workers needed to support them?Come to our annual dinner and learn just how green we are\, and how we can all work together to prepare for the opportunities ahead. Our guest speaker this evening is Professor Kent Portney\, author of Taking Sustainable Cities Seriously: Economic Development\, the Environment\, and Quality of Life in American Cities.Of course\, the highlight of the evening will remain the revealing of our new Citizen of the Year!
