OUR MISSION

To share our religious beliefs\, culture\, and traditions with women from other faiths and develop understanding and friendship among each other and the community

HOW WE GOT STARTED

In the fall of 2005\, four of us were among a group of women invited to a meeting to explore the possibility of organizing an interfaith day of spirituality for women. \; After two preliminary meetings we discovered that spirituality meant something quite different to each of us. \; When we concluded that an interfaith spiritual program would not be feasible\, we still decided to meet again to explore other ideas about how we could learn together. Never having met each other before\, we were intrigued by the opportunity that presented itself. \; We were four women\, two Christians\, a Muslim and a Jew\, interested in learning more about each other’s faith. By March\, of 2006\, we had recruited friends from other faith communities and formed a steering committee to begin working on programming.

WHO WE ARE

Presently there are thirteen women on the steering committee. \; Although we are each active in our own faith communities\, we are not sponsored by any of them. \; We want to include as many faiths as possible by welcoming women of other faiths to join us. We have had up to 120 women participate in our events\, and we are growing as more women find our programming of interest and join our e-mail list.

FUNDING

We are truly a grassroots group. \; We do not collect dues nor maintain a bank account. We rely on the generosity of houses of worship\, members of the clergy\, lay leaders\, and other individuals to provide meeting spaces and refreshments. \; We respond to suggestions for speakers and programming.
