SUMMARY:Business Unboxed: Riding the Wave of AI
DESCRIPTION:The Greater Manchester Chamber (GMC) is introducing its new Business Unboxed workshop to build on the momentum of the annual ACCESS Economic Growth Conference. You wanted more on AI from the conference\, so here it is!\n\n \n\nSave the date for Tuesday April 9 for our four-part workshop. The morning event will include a keynote address from national expert Elizabeth Edwards on how AI is changing how we work\, followed by a panel of local experts that will dive into what this means for you in your professional capacity. Then there will be an opportunity to put some learning and new information to practice during two workshops. For individuals looking for CE opportunities\, four CE credits will be offered for this event and we expect a sellout.\n\n \n\n8:30 a.m. Keynote: Riding the Wave of AI\n\n\n\nThe New Ground Rules for Communication\, Trust\, and AI-Influenced Roles in the Workforce with Elizabeth Edwars.\n\n \n\n9:20 a.m. Panel Discussion: How will you ride the wave?\n\nPanelists TBD\; Moderated by Elizabeth Edwards\n\n\n\n10:10 a.m. Break \n\n\n\n10:20 a.m. Workshop Module 1: What Is AI Saying About Your Business?\n\nParticipants would work individually or in table groups using a real business. They will ask the standard questions people commonly ask AI about a business\, will review the responses and identify what is working well\, what is not\, and where they may want to shape or improve what AI is picking up. They then ask a second set of more realistic\, more skeptical\, and sometimes more biased consumer questions\, so they can see how AI responds under more challenging conditions.\n\n\n\n11:10 a.m. Workshop Module 2: Build Better Prompts for Real Business Work\n\nThis module is designed to move people beyond generic prompting and show them how to get much better outputs by giving AI stronger direction\, clearer context\, and better business knowledge. We start with a very basic small-business prompt\, such as: write a social media post for my business about [topic]. Then we will work on Talk Through Topics that helps them verbally guide AI with the kinds of context most people leave out. They would compare the before-and-after outputs and see the difference.\n\n\n\n__________________________________\n\n \n\nKeynote Description\n\nHow we pose questions\, develop strategies and use and share messaging and information has shifted at record pace and is literally changing each day. AI is reshaping how people receive\, interpret\, and trust information before you even get to them. Everything about information sharing and communication is being renegotiated how you reach your audiences whose sense of reality is increasingly shaped by AI before they ever see your message. So many professional sectors are now grappling with this question of not if but how should I use AI to be more effective in my role\, where are the boundaries and what can I do to ride this wave?\n\n\n\nAbout Elizabeth Edwards\n\nBehavioral communication science and 25 years of applied research meet the questions challenging many professionals in the public and private sectors the most today: How do you build and protect trust when the information environment itself is unreliable? How do you use AI's power without surrendering your credibility? And what does it mean to be a communicator in the age of AI-mediated sensemaking? You'll leave with a new framework for your role\, practical tools for the work ahead\, and a clear sense of the ethical standards your profession and your future community will hold you to.
