Members First Credit Union Donates Van to Granite Pathways
The vehicle will be used primarily for its Youth Treatment Center

MANCHESTER, NH (May 9, 2019)Members First Credit Union recently donated a van to Granite Pathways, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with mental illness and addiction. The van will assist Granite Pathways in transporting adolescents 12-17 years old receiving treatment at its new Youth Treatment Center in Manchester. The first of its kind in New Hampshire, the 36-bed facility is dedicated to treating youth with substance use disorder and assisting them on the road to recovery.

“Ten years ago, Granite Pathways was founded in New Hampshire as a place to offer assistance, hope, and resources for our state,” said Bruce Leighton, president and CEO, Members First Credit Union. “This year, as Members First celebrates our 70th anniversary, it’s only fitting that we continue to build upon, lift up, and reinforce our support for these nonprofits that serve and strengthen our community. There’s no doubt Granite Pathways is doing extraordinary work and we’re confident this van will serve its purpose in giving young people the opportunity to receive the care and treatment they deserve,” said Leighton.

Granite Pathways operates the new facility with evidence-based treatment and individualized support to address the unique challenges their residents face. They take a family-driven, youth-guided and trauma- informed approach, so youth feel safe and well supported in their environment. The center places an emphasis on individual empowerment to help prepare young people to continue recovery in their communities.

“Granite Pathways is humbled and grateful for Members First Credit Union’s recent $30,000 donation enabling our Youth Treatment Center to purchase a beautiful 12-passenger, 2018 Ford Transit van,” said Patricia Reed, state director, Granite Pathways. “Providing young people with opportunities to engage with their communities through social, educational and substance use support meetings is critical to their long-term recovery post discharge. Because of Members First Credit Union and its long-standing commitment to give back, young people in residential treatment are guaranteed this opportunity. We can’t thank Members First Credit Union enough for their compassion and generosity—and their willingness to take a stand in the battle for the health and well-being of the State’s youngest victims of substance use disorders,” said Reed.
