Responding to Downtown’s Street Population: A workshop for downtown business owners and employees
This workshop will educate members of the downtown business community on the unique needs and issues of downtown Manchester’s street population. The workshop will feature expert panelists on the various street populations. Participants will leave with an understanding of the key issues and factors that affect downtown’s street population, as well as specific strategies, tactics and resource materials to assist and respond to these populations in related “real world” situations.
Populations discussed include:
· Homeless individuals
· Panhandlers
· Loiterers/street people
· Teens and other youth
· Individuals with substance abuse issues
· Individuals with mental issues
· Individuals with behavioral issues
· Individuals fitting within two or more of the above categories
