THE DANA CENTER IS PROUD TO PRESENT Le Vent du Nord & The Barefoot Movement Friday, October 28, 2016 The Dana Center, world-class performing arts on the campus of Saint Anselm College, is proud to present Le Vent du Nord & The Barefoot Movement, both heartfelt and energetic with deep history and playful innovation, on Friday, October 28th at 7:30PM. Back by popular demand! A driving force in progressive folk, Le Vent du Nord rocks the house like a raucous Saturday night kitchen party, giving old Québecois tunes and traditional instruments modern drive and a breath of fresh cosmopolitan air. Since 2002, Le Vent du Nord has played well over 1600 concerts and been awarded Canada’s highest music awards, including a Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros, two Junos (Canada’s Grammys), a Canadian Folk Music Award, and “Artist of the Year” at the North American Folk Alliance Annual Gala. Le Vent du Nord delivers catchy tunes, some taken from the Québecois traditional folk repertoire, while others are original compositions, all played with modern innovation. These celebrated musical ambassadors know how to turn folk history into intense and beautiful performances that push regional roots in global directions, blazing a path that connects their Québecois sound to the wider world. Le Vent Du Nord are joined this year by award-winning The Barefoot Movement, whose heady blend of Appalachian bluegrass, folk, and country blend with tight three-part vocal harmonies that sizzle with a 21st Century sensibility. Winners of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s 2014 Momentum Award, and selected by the U.S. Government as cultural ambassadors for their 2014 international Arts Envoy program, The Barefoot Movement has opened for The Milk Carton Kids, and shared the stage with the likes of The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Steve Earle, The Duhks, and Del McCoury. Join us for a knee-slapping, hand clapping night of joyful music, witty banter, and great onstage chemistry that will charm the whole family! “Vent Du Nord leavens hard driving, soulful Quebecois music with New Orleans polyphony and R & B.” -L.A.
