Name: Manchester's Education Benchmarks
Date: September 24, 2014
Time: 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM EDT
Event Description:

On the morning of Wednesday, September 24, at the Derryfield Country Club, Dan Barrick, Deputy Director of the New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies, will give the first public presentation of the Center’s forthcoming report “Manchester’s Education Benchmarks: Using data to map a pathway to success.”

This report aims to provide those interested in understanding and improving the city’s education system with objective data tools with which to work. The report will present a range of data that paint an overall portrait of public education in Manchester — everything from traditional measures of success, such as test scores and graduation rates, to broader factors that influence successful outcomes at the earliest and latest points in a student’s educational experience.

Following Barrick’s overview, an expert panel will discuss the report’s findings, factors that affect the data presented, and positive, pro-active steps being taken to address improve said factors and educational outcomes. Panelists include Manchester School District Superintendent Dr. Debra Livingston, Granite United Way Executive Director Patrick Tufts, Manchester Health Department Deputy Director Anna Thomas, and STEAM Ahead NH Director and DYN Director of Community Relations, Bob Baines.
