Girls at Work, Inc., a nonprofit organization located in the Manchester’s Millyard. We believe in a world where every girl feels confident and capable.
When girls from economically underserved communities learn how to build, the outcomes reach far beyond what they can create with power tools. Girls at Work, Inc. creates opportunities for girls to find the courage, confidence, and character to overcome risk, persevere through mistakes, and conquer their challenges. It’s where girls come face to face with new experiences, discover their potential, and develop an internal drive to reach their goals today, building a momentum of success to shape their future!
Empowering girls, ages 8-14, through building projects with power tools remains our signature impact program. Since 2023, the implementation of S.T.E.A.M. (STEAM) programs, has strengthened our impact by providing
additional real-life skill development.
S.T.E.A.M. education is designed to empower girls in their exploration of sciences, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through immersive experiential learning. This program fosters a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and pre-workforce skill development. Girls become more equipped with essential skills to tackle real-world challenges and contribute to their community in inventive and impactful ways.
All of the girls attending our
After School and
Build Me Up Summer Camp programs receive scholarships. Many girls come from challenging circumstances, so entering the safe space Girls at Work, Inc. provides is critical, and helps support their success. Upon arriving, girls feel accepted, and over the course of their involvement begin to feel empowered; more open to risk-taking, mistake-making, and pride-building, which allows them to immerse in deeper learning, and meaningful skill building.
